Happy Birthday to the big man who makes the bass go BOOM! Mr. David Rossi! Come on out TONIGHT to Duke’s Bohemian Grove Bar in BUFFALO with Space Junk and buy this man a drink!
Got another KILLER week of shows on Die Digital Winter Tour!
THURSDAY 1.31 | Buffalo, NY | Duke’s Bohemian Grove Bar w. Space Junk
FRIDAY 2.1 | Erie, PA | the crooked i w. OCUPANTHER
SATURDAY 2.2 | Pittsburgh, PA | Thunderbird Cafe
BIG UPS to The Buffalo News for getting where we’re at!

Meanwhile, down in the underground, where the most exciting and dynamic music is almost always being made, DJs who still spin and manipulate vinyl records, as opposed to the “digital spinning” favored by the top-dollar DJs, are hooking up with real-time musicians to “jam.” And bands are employing laptops to keep the four-on-the-floor going while they construct compositions, improvise and take off on collective jams around that techno pulse. This is happening in Buffalo clubs that feature live music on a consistent basis, most nights of the week.

BIG UPS are also in order to The Earie Times-News for the glowing preview of our show tomorrow night!

Jimkata expects to return to Blue Heron, but before that it heads back to the Crooked I on Friday. The quartet is coming off a strong 2012 that included the release of breakthrough album “Die Digital” and touring across the country.
“I think it was a formidable year for us,” Friedell said. “‘Die Digital’ is probably the first record we put out that we all feel really confident in saying, ‘This is our sound, this is where we’re going.’ And it was our first year of real serious, organized touring. We learned a lot. We gained a lot of traction in new places and made new fans all over in places I never thought we’d be.”
The band played Minneapolis, Denver, Chicago and other major cities, as well as festivals with Umphrey’s McGee, the Roots and Steve Winwood. They turned a lot of heads with their groove-centric sound, which features powerful beats and a big guitar sound. Though they employ electronics, don’t expect Skrillex.
“The EDM name tag is like a buzzword of late, but, for us, we’re influenced by electronic and hip-hop music,” Friedell said. “That’s kind of where we get our driving beat. But we’re very much a songwriting rock ‘n’ roll band. We have those influences, but we’re not like DJs or live instrumental dance music.”
